The first day of spring is going to be a chilly one here in the ATL now a freeze watch is in effect for most of the metro area.
Temperatures could drop as low as 28 degrees on Tuesday mornings, and by Wednesday more spring like temperatures are expected to return.
In the mean time, warming centers will begin to open at 8pm in both Dekalb County and City of Atlanta. Check out the info below!
If you’re looking for shelter this week, the following warming centers will be open in DeKalb County starting at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18:
● Fire Station 3; 100 N. Clarendon Avenue, Avondale Estates
● Fire Station 4; 4540 Flakes Mill Road, Ellenwood
● Fire Station 6; 2342 Flat Shoals Road, Atlanta
● North DeKalb Senior Center; 3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee
● Frontline Response International; 2585 Gresham Road, Atlanta
The City of Atlanta will open two warming centers ahead of colder temperatures on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. and they will remain open through Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 a.m.
The first warming center will be located at the Central Park Recreation Center at 400 Merritts Ave. NE, Atlanta 30308 and will be open for men only.
The second warming center will be located at the Selena Butler Recreation Center at 98 Wm Holmes Borders Dr. SE, Atlanta, GA 30312 and will be open for women and children only.
