7 felony charges lodged against Peachtree City man

A Peachtree City man faces a long list of felony charges after his Jan. 17 arrest in the area of Peachtree Parkway.

The Fayette County Jail log lists more than a dozen charges against Mathew Autera, 57, of Peachtree City. They include seven felony drug counts and a felony charge of possession of a weapon in commission of a crime. Lesser charges include two counts each of marijuana possession, possession of non-labeled prescription drugs and possession/use of drug-related objects.

Elsewhere in Peachtree City, officers responded Jan. 18 to the Kroger on Crosstown Drive in response to a shoplifting complaint. The three offenders fled but were apprehended a short time later.

Lakina Kirkland, 46, of Atlanta was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, a felony, along with obstruction of an officer and theft by shoplifting.

A traffic stop was made Jan. 17 in the area of 102 City Circle for a minor traffic violation. During the investigation, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver then began to “actively resist officers,” according to the report, and was taken into custody.

Rodney Philigence, 18, of Newnan faces a felony drug charge as well as obstruction of an officer, license plate requirements and a seat belt violation, according to the Fayette County Jail log.
