The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has named Leroy Chapman Jr. as its next editor-in-chief, succeeding longtime EIC Kevin Riley. This position comes as a promotion for Chapman, who has served as the outlet’s managing editor since 2011.

During his time at the AJC, Chapman has been at the forefront of some of the publication’s most high-profile stories, including Georgia’s 2020 election results and Atlanta’s affordable housing crisis.

In this new role, Chapman will oversee the newsgathering, programming, features and opinion teams, as well as the editorial teams responsible for video, audio, newsletters and events. Read more about Chapman’s background and extensive career here.
