“Unfortunately, in Douglas County, there is a lack of opportunities for short-term, credential-based skills training programs — a shortfall that hurts both the region’s job seekers and employers,” Robinson says in the letter. “For these reasons, we fully support Goodwill of North Georgia’s proposal for CDS (congressionally directed spending) funding and look forward to working with them.”

Also on the agenda for Thursday night’s meeting is a city charter amendment which would allow the city manager to approve certain contracts and an ordinance setting the city manager’s contract spending limit at $100,000.

Currently that limit is $25,000. Some metro Atlanta cities, including Sandy Springs and the City of South Fulton, have spending limits at or above $100,000. Others operate with a limit of $25,000.
