Mayor Rochelle Robinson highlights city accomplishments in speech | Douglasville Sentinel

Robinson delivered the speech Monday evening at the Douglasville Conference Center. After touting all of the accomplishments, she ended with a brief solo of ‘To God be the Glory’ while getting a standing ovation.

“Douglasville stands as a shining example of teamwork,” Robinson said. “The future is brighter than ever.”

Clayton County Commissioners Chair Jeff Turner and Union City Mayor Vince Williams attended the address along with several Douglas County citizens and leaders.

Her speech was entitled ‘A Beacon of Excellence’ as Robinson pointed out several awards that the city and employees received during 2023.

“With each passing year, Douglasville continues to shine brightly as a symbol of excellence,” Robinson said. “We draw inspiration from the city and ingenuity of our great businesses and tireless efforts of our staff and elected officials.”

Robinson spoke about having 10 months of operationg expenses in the fund balances, which is more than required.

She said the city is doing $2 million of road resurfacing.

“We have about 30 organizations that have adopted roads within the city,” she said.

Robinson highlighted the opening of the Greystone Amphitheater in downtown and the accomplishments of the parks and recreation department.

Robinson said the $25 million renovation of Jess Davis Park should be completed this coming fall with a new turf football field and a swimming pool.

The city was named a healthy employer by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
