Powder Springs Woman Killed In South Cobb Crash

AUSTELL, GA — A Powder Springs woman is dead after Cobb County Police said her car left the roadway and hit a telephone pole Monday at the Meadows Road and Worthington Drive intersection.

Police said the crash happened around noon, when the woman’s white 2018 Hyundai Sonata Sport was heading west on Meadows. It is unknown why the Sonata veered off of the roadway and hit the pole on the shoulder.

The woman was identified by police as Sharlyne Sobers, 41, of Powder Springs. She had serious injuries from the crash and was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital, where she was pronounced dead “despite extensive resuscitation efforts,” police said.

Cobb County Police is assisting Austell Police on the case.
