Steve Hord receives Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award | Douglasville Sentinel

The Douglas County Chamber honored Hord with its Lifetime Achievement Award Saturday at its annual Winter Ball Event at the Dougalsville Conference Center.

“A few words to describe him are energetic, humble, caring, outgoing, positive, selfless, and personable,” said Nadia Faucette, chair of the Chamber Board of Directors.

“He has made it his mission to serve our community’s families in countless ways. There is a mile long list of nonprofit organizations and initiatives that he has supported over the years.”

Other award winners included, Eriel Dunnam, Young Professional of the Year, and her husband, Kiondre, received the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award. Sam and Roscos Restaurant was named the Small Business of the Year.

The city of Douglasville was named the Large Business of the Year while Athena Bryant received the Chairman’s Award. Jasmine Moore received the Community Service Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has, over time, exhibited outstanding service in every aspect- leadership, professional and civic contributions, current accomplishments, and length of service in Douglas.

“I don’t know if I found the village as much as the the village has found me,” Hord said before a sold-out ballroom crowd of business, civic and government leaders. “Thank you for allowing me to serve and have an impact on the youth. I’m blessed, and I know I’m blessed.”

Hord is seeing a second generation of youth join the Douglasville Boys & Girls Club, located off Hunter Drive.
