Two from DHCS honored as STAR Students | Douglasville Sentinel

Anna Liu and Isabel Yang were selected as the honorees for having the highest SAT scores in the county, alone meeting other academic criteria.

Liu selected Shea St. John as her STAR Teacher while Yang gave the honor to Jasmine Gordy.

The two will now compete in the regional competition with the winners moving on to state.

“I’m honored to stand before you,” Yang said.

Chapel Hill High also had two student selected for honor.

Mazzy Beyer and Rajah Broadus were the honorees. Both selected their middle school teachers for STAR Teacher recognition.

Beyer selected Claire Phillips will Broadus gave the honor to Mikki Lucas.

Alexander senior Madison Thomas selects Jeffery Davison for the teacher’s honor.

Roshan Patel was the student from Lithia Springs with Stephanie Carr being his teacher’s selection.

Riley Laird is the student selection from Harvester Christian with Carla Read being the teacher honoree.

Tacari Fears was the New Manchester STAR Student and he selected Andrew Mulkey as the teacher.

Yang and Lui both have 4.0 grade-point averages and tied with 1,520 on the SAT.

They have known each other since the third-grade and attended Chapel Hill Middle School together with several of the other student honorees.

“It is remarkable seeing these two young ladies flourish into leaders,” DCHS principal Kenja Parks said. “I’m proud that they are face of school. They have really worked hard.”
