The small grocery store is in what was originally the living room of a 120-year-old house at 810 Union Street in Strathcona. It sells all manner of groceries, but also acts as a neighbourhood bakery, café and unofficial community centre.

“What’s really fantastic about the Union is the sense of community that it engendered,” said Vancouver city councillor Pete Fry, who has been going there for decades.
