Lake Lanier is a large reservoir in north Georgia surrounded by Hall, Dawson, Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties. Before it became a man-made lake, the area was a thriving city, and Oscarville was a Black community within that city. The residents were forced out of their homes to flood the area.
The new horror movie, “Lanier,” looks at how the descendants of Oscarville grappled with displacement…and what they’re willing to do to right past wrongs. In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks about the film with the director/writer and husband-wife team — William Eric Bush-Anderson and Cindy Kunz-Anderson.
