The fundraiser for Jacques “Jay” Rougeau was sensational to say the least. The donations toward the scholarship topped $6,000. There were people there who had not been to a Corry volleyball match in years, some there for the first time. Kudos to all those involved. A tip of the cap to Krista Jackson, Darlene and Jeff’s daughter, for coming in her state police uniform and staying for the entire match. Nice to see Chip Williams working with new official L.J. Frisina for the match.

The Corry trap team’s “Thanking Our Community Day Shoot” is tomorrow at the Rod & Gun Club. It starts at 9 a.m. with the last sign-ups at noon. There will be teams made up of parents, businesses, policemen, firemen and more.

We lost one of Corry’s all-time great sports fans with the passing of Gerri Cragg. For decades, you’d see her at so many events, often with family members in the Corry gym or football field. She’ll be missed.

The Pancake Breakfast & Fly-in event is set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Corry-Lawrence Airport.

There was a gathering of 1971-72 Corry grads the other day at the American Legion after a golf outing. They were Jim “Farmer” Sekerak, Lou White, Tom Lutton, Ken Heacox and Kevin Spitman. Farmer told me his son and former all-star basketball player Tyler now sells medical equipment near Cincinnati.

This was interesting. At last Saturday’s Clymer/Sherman/Panama football game in Sherman, the chain gang featured the husband-and-wife tandem of Matt and Billie Jo Davis. You may know Billie Jo, she works the counter at Cam Tire. In all my years, Billie Jo is the first female I’ve seen on the chain gang.

The Corry Cheerleading Booster’s “Glow Bingo” is on Tuesday at the Union City American Legion. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the game is at 6…
