First responders rarely get together to talk and get to know one another better from other agencies.
Thursday night was an exception.
A low country boil, featuring all kinds of delicious seafood cooked in big kettles outside, brought 175 first responders together from throughout Milledgeville and Baldwin County and elsewhere.
The event was held at Milledgeville United Methodist Church on Log Cabin Road.
“This was the first time we have ever invited everybody,” said Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massee. “I jokingly said we invited everybody with a gun, firehose and telescope. This event is for y’all. I’d really like it if y’all would give a round of applause for all the parties that are gathered here. This is something we truly need to do more often. Events like this bring us closer together.”
The event drew not only local first responders but also several high-profile figures involved in state law enforcement including newly-appointed Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey and Georgia Sheriff’s Association Executive Director Terry Norris.
