The Pop-Tarts Bowl is giving fans an extra reason to tune in to this year’s game. It was announced on Monday that the Pop-Tarts Bowl will feature an edible mascot this year.
The winning team will get an opportunity to take a bite out of the mascot following the matchup.
“For sixty years, Pop-Tarts has sacrificed everything in the name of Crazy Good flavor, so why wouldn’t that include our beloved Football Mascot, too?” Senior Director of Marketing for Pop-Tarts Heidi Ray said in a statement.
“Since we announced our title sponsorship of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, fans have been speculating on the larger-than-life game day experiences we will be tackling, and this is the first of many traditions that fans can expect Pop-Tarts to upend on game day.”
The Duke’s Mayo Bowl and Cheez-It Bowl have both been creative in recent years while looking to attract fans to their game. Now the Pop-Tarts Bowl is joining in.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl Mascot will run around the field before and during the game and interact with fans. After the game, it will “transform into a game-winning snack for the victors” the release states.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl will take place on Dec. 28 at 5:45 p.m. in Orlando. It will be televised by ESPN.
It remains to be seen who will be playing in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, but CBS Sports updated its bowl predictions following rivalry week.
