KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Texas women’s soccer student-athlete Lexi Missimo was named one of the 15 semifinalists for the 2023 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy, United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced Wednesday morning.Â
In 24 soccer matches played in the Burnt Orange and White throughout 2023, Missimo set six different single-season program records, including points (72), goals (26), assists (20, shots (126) and penalty kicks (9). Her 72 points on the season — two points per goal, one point per assist — were tied for the 15th-most in Division I women’s soccer single season history. She also became just the fifth Division I women’s soccer student-athlete since 2000 — Portland’s Christine Sinclair (88, 2005), Stanford’s Catarina Macario (87, 2019), Florida’s Abby Wambach (76, 2001) and North Carolina’s Lindsay Tarpley (73, 2003) — score 72-or-more points in a single season.Â
A midfielder, Missimo became the first women’s soccer student-athlete in league history to lead the Big 12 Conference in every offensive category. She was also selected as the Big 12’s Midfielder of the Year, a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team honoree, the Most Outstanding Offensive Player at the Big 12’s postseason tournament as well as helped her team to its third Big 12 Conference tournament championship trophy.Â
On the season, Missimo, a native of Southlake, Texas, was a four-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week selection, two-time United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week, two-time College Soccer News National Player of the Week, one-time NCAA Digital Player of the Week and was selected to Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News’ National Team of the Week a combined nine times.Â
