UT to Host Multiple Events Celebrating Veterans

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host a variety of Veterans Day events in November to celebrate and show appreciation for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and those who continue to serve.

“We take great pride in honoring the veterans within our midst, whose steadfast commitment to our nation embodies the core values of a Volunteer,” said Amber Williams, vice provost for student success. “We are wholeheartedly behind each journey toward success at UT, and your outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to our campus community are profoundly cherished.”

UT’s Veterans Success Center, Division of Student Success, Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, Army ROTC Alumni Council, Athletics Department and College of Music have teamed up to host the following events in honor of staff, faculty and alumni veterans in the Vol community and beyond.

Campus-wide Green Zone Training
Monday, Nov. 6, 1-3:30 p.m., Student Union Room 169

A session educating faculty and staff about student veterans, who they are, and their strengths and challenges, as well as military education benefits and support services on campus. Advance registration is requested.

My Footprint Series Workshop: Boot Print to Footprint
Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1-3 p.m., Student Union Room 362C

A workshop where veterans can discuss and learn coping strategies during their transition from military service to civilian life on campus, in the workplace, and in the community. Registration can be found here.

Veteran Networking
Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Student Union Room 377

A networking event where student veterans can learn more about job and internship opportunities from a wide variety of employers.

Campus Veterans Appreciation Barbecue
Thursday, Nov. 9, 5-7 p.m., Neyland Stadium Social Deck (rain site: Tennessee Terrace)

Barbecue dinner and social event for UT student, faculty and staff military veterans and their families. Advance registration is required.
