Three times was apparently the charm to get voters to approve a penny sales tax to improve roads, streets and bridges in Milledgeville and Baldwin County.

Voters approved a 1-cent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) on Election Day.

Unofficial returns from Tuesday’s election revealed that the T-SPLOST was approved, according to Baldwin County Probate Judge and Elections Superintendent Todd A. Blackwell.

A total of 2,120 voters or 74.07% cast ballots for its approval, while a total of 742 voters, or 25.91% cast ballots opposing T-SPLOST.

Emile T. Cook, meanwhile, won the District 4 seat on the Georgia Military College Board of Trustees in a city-only election.

Cook was unopposed.

She garnered 32 votes.
