Newnan man killed fleeing from police | News

The motorcycle driver reportedly failed to yield to the deputy’s emergency lights and siren and fled at a high rate of speed while passing motorists in the wrong lane. Authorities estimate the motorcycle reached speeds of 120 mph in the 35 mph zone.

The deputy lost sight of the motorcycle, and units began searching where it had been last seen. The motorcycle was found at the intersection of Herring Road and Greentop Road.

The driver, identified as Billy Dancy, was located a short distance from the motorcycle axnd was unresponsive.

Dancy, 33, of Newnan, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coweta County Coroner’s Office.

The accident investigation was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol.
