Chase suspect apprehended in bathroom | News

The deputy located the car on Macedonia Road and attempted to pull over the car, but the driver, identified as Thommiaston Jacobie Battle, sped away.

Battle turned right on West Highway 16 and then onto Macedonia Trace, a dead-end street. At the end of the road, the deputy saw Battle open the car door and flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the deputy lost sight of Battle in the parking lot of the Little Giant grocery store.

Inside the grocery store, the deputy spoke with an employee who confirmed that a man entered the store while running, but they didn’t see where he went.

The deputy checked the bathroom and observed someone in the last stall with boots, pants and a keychain lanyard that matched Battle’s description.

When told to exit the stall with his hands up, Battle refused and said he was busy using the bathroom.

The deputy warned Battle if he did not come out, he would be tased and pointed the taser under the stall door. Battle said he’d unlock the door only to show deputies he was using the restroom and could not come out.

After Battle unlocked the door, deputies entered the stall, forced him to pull his pants up, and was then handcuffed.

Battle told deputies he ran because he knew his license was not valid and he was scared of law enforcement.

It was learned the car being driven by Battle also did not have valid insurance or registration.
