3 killed in crash on Old National Highway in South Fulton

Three people were killed in a crash that blocked Old National Highway through South Fulton for hours early Friday morning.

The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. between Bethsaida and Jonesboro roads, the Georgia Department of Transportation said. Police and road workers were at the scene well into the late morning hours.

Officials told Channel 2 Action News that a Polaris Slingshot, a three-wheeled motorcycle, collided with a Hyundai Sonata. The wreck killed the driver of the Polaris, his family confirmed. They identified him as 46-year-old Ryan Hines.

At least two people were in the Hyundai, and one of them was ejected from the car and killed, Channel 2 reported. One other person was also killed, according to the news station.

Hines wasn’t far from home when the crash happened, and he died on impact, his stepson Terence Guthrie told reporters at the scene.

“He was a happy person,” Guthrie said. “He enjoyed everybody, and everybody enjoyed him. He was loving … life is so short.”

Officials have not released any details about what led to the crash.
