The incident, which took place after Battie left his job at the school, did not happen on school grounds.

According to warrants, Battie tried to lure two 15-year-old students into meeting him for indecent acts. One student told Battie of a dream she had which included sexual connotations.

The teacher replied that he “wanted to be part of the same dream and make it real,” the warrants state. Battie also said he would provide both girls with merchandise from a beauty supply store in exchange for him being allowed to be part of the dream.

School officials say they have taken the matter very seriously from the time it was discovered on Feb. 7.

“When HCA administrators became aware of the situation, appropriate action was taken,” the school said in a statement to the Sentinel. “From that point, HCA has fully cooperated with law enforcement officials and will continue to do so while the legal process is conducted.”

“We continue to pray for those affected, and we will seek to support the Harvester Christian Academy students and families to the best of our ability,” the statement concluded.
