Coweta Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge N. Markette Baker sentenced Nutt to four consecutive life sentences without parole, followed by 40 years without parole.

According to authorities, Nutt, 41, was responsible for the deaths of Marcus Lee Caswell, Jr., 46, and Travis Michael Lodato, 31, on Aug. 8, 2021.

The night before their deaths, authorities said Caswell and Lodato tried to collect a debt from Nutte, but he was not home.

When Nutt returned home, he reportedly told another person present that he planned to rob the two victims of their motorcycles.

Nutt arranged for a meeting on Aug. 8 to settle the debt and when Caswell and Lodato returned to Nutt’s home, he shot and killed them, according to District Attorney Herb Cranford Jr.,

Nutt shot Caswell once in the head and Lodato five times, Cranford said. Nutt then stole jewelry, Lodato’s motorcycle and other possessions.

Cranford said Nutt and another person dumped the bodies in West Point Lake the next morning. The bodies were discovered in two incidents over the next 48 hours.

On Aug. 12, investigators went to Nutt’s home and found Caswell’s and Lodato’s motorcycles. Nutt was arrested after a chase and investigators found that he had Caswell’s motorcycle helmet and car keys and Lodato’s chest plate, according to Cranford.
