April is Senior Hunger Awareness Month, and the Coweta County Board of Commissioners has declared April 9-16 Senior Hunger Awareness Week in Coweta County.

To commemorate both Senior Hunger Week and Senior Hunger Awareness Month, Friday, April 12, has been designated as the official day to wear orange to raise awareness of senior hunger.

Senior hunger is a prevalent issue with- nearly 5.5 million Americans 60 and older facinge hunger, according to Feeding America.

​​According to Lizabeth Andrew with Meals on Wheels of Coweta, the sustained list of its senior clients has increased by 28 percent since 2021.
