Melvin “Mal” Charles Weagle, Jr., 85 years old, was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts to Melvin Charles Weagle, Sr. and Lorraine (Bonin) Weagle.
Mal passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024 in Peachtree City, Georgia. Mal was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lenora “Jackie” (Shadrix) Weagle, his son Michael Weagle, Grandson Matthew Weagle, Sister Patty Kilmain and Brother Donald.
He is survived by his son Melvin III and his wife Tara of Ware, MA; Daughter Suzanne Scola and her husband Paul of Gloucester, MA, and David and his wife Stephanie Weagle of Peachtree City, GA. Grandchildren include Meredith Dester, Bryson Weagle, Michael Scola, Benjamin Scola, and Keith Weagle, and sister Suzanne Guy and her husband, David. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Mal spent his early years in Waltham, MA and attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. Mal joined the Army in January 1963 and was stationed in Fort McClellan, Alabama. Mal was a Lieutenant in the United States Army and spent time in the Fort Clayton Canal Zone. Mal met his wife Jackie at the Officer’s Club while they were both stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Mal and Jackie were married in Alabama after they were both honorably discharged from the United States Army and were married for 40 years.
Mal owned and operated his own pharmacy, Community Drug Store, in downtown Methuen until he began working for CVS Pharmacy. Mal was extremely involved in politics and served as the Chairman of the Methuen Town Council for several years. He was a member of Merrimack Valley Golf Club until Mal and Jackie left Methuen, Massachusetts and moved to Georgia.
Mal lived in Peachtree City for 18 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Canongate Clubs of Peachtree City. He was a huge sports fan, particularly of the Boston Red Sox…
