Senoia Area Historical Society celebrates remodeling of museum | News

The SAHS’ offices and museum are housed in the 1870’s era Carmichael House, located at 6 Couch Street.

The Carmichael Initiative replaced the siding, doors and windows on all four sides of the historical house, duplicating the original style and materials that were used in the 1870’s as much as possible.

The society received a donation of approximately 19,000 linear feet of pine wood that was harvested from yellow pine trees over 100 years old, which replicates the building’s original siding.

The brick foundation pillars and underpinning were repaired, and an addition to the original house was converted into a 15’ x 35’ meeting room, which is also available for rent to the public.

To see the renovations to the museum, it is open for free tours from 1-4 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
